Sustainability

Since more than a century our joinery is found right in the middle of a vast agricultural area. We see the seasons come and go. In May we hear the lark’s two-note chip, in November trees disappear like ships in the mist. Wood is our main source material; we owe nature a debt of gratitude, and we try to protect our environment.

Three aspects are particularly important to us.

Minimised impact

Science has a measure for environmental impact – the ecological footprint. Man has left traces all over the planet. We´re on our toes to minimise the footprint in each and every stage of our production and distribution.

Renewable raw materials

Our interiors are woodwork – oak, ash, elm, walnut, birch etcetera. We´re only engaged with FSC-certified forestry partners.

Interiors that last

The single most important thing we can do for nature and environment is manufacturing interiors that last and age with grace. Period.

Enduring Quality

For us, quality and longevity are the foundation of everything we do. We build kitchens and interiors that stand the test of time – with carefully selected materials, timeless design, and genuine craftsmanship. When products last longer, the need for replacement, repair, or disposal decreases. It is a concrete way of preserving the earth’s resources.

The results of our work are also reflected in the environmental assessments our products undergo. By having our products reviewed and approved in well-established systems such as SundaHus, Byggvarubedömningen, and Svanens Husbyggnadsportal, we can ensure that the materials in your kitchen and home are of the highest quality – while also being better for the environment, health, and society at large.

The certifications matter, but equally important is our commitment to transparency, responsibility, and reassurance in every detail. For you as a customer, this means not only a kitchen that will last for generations – but also a choice that contributes to a better future.

Why Environmental Assessments?

Environmental assessments help you as a customer make more conscious and sustainable choices. They are based on a construction product declaration (BVD), which may include information such as materials and chemicals used, how the product affects indoor environments, how it can be recycled, and the resources required for manufacturing. This information makes it possible to compare and choose products of high quality – with the least possible impact on people and the environment.

SundaHus

A leading Swedish assessment system that evaluates and documents the materials contained in a building product – with a focus on environmental and health aspects throughout its entire life cycle, from production to recycling.

What does this mean for you as a customer? You receive products that have been thoroughly reviewed from both an environmental and health perspective. This makes your kitchen a safer and more sustainable choice – for your home and for the future.

Byggvarubedömningen (BVB)

An industry-owned Swedish evaluation system that assesses building products based on content, life cycle, and supply chains. The assessments are based on scientifically established criteria and international regulations.

What does this mean for you as a customer? You can feel confident that the materials in your kitchen have been chosen with great care – not only with the environment in mind, but also social responsibility and quality. A conscious choice at every stage.

Svanens Husbyggnadsportal

Used to review and approve products for environmentally certified buildings according to the requirements of Svanen. The focus is on low environmental impact and safe materials.

What does this mean for you as a customer? You receive a kitchen that can be included in environmentally certified building projects – and that meets high standards of sustainability and quality. A sound choice for those who care about the bigger picture.

Royal Oak from Visingsö

In our interiors you will find broadleaf wood such as ash and oak. Oak is occasionally harvested in the Royal forest that was planted around 1830 on Visingsö in Lake Vättern, today huge halls and arcades with pillars of oak.

The purpose of planting was to secure a future supply of timber for the Swedish marine. Alongside, planted larch and spruce shadowed the oak to stop it from spreading its branches. Unlike the traditional dignified and emblematic oak, these trees grew tall and straight. The Swedish crown managed a long-term and rational production of raw material, boards, and planks for carvel-built war vessels with an imposing ornate galleons and transoms.

In 1975, long after the last ship-of-the-line had sailed away, the earliest trees were ripe to harvest. Today, the oak forest of Visingsö is part of our national heritage. A gentle and sustainable maintenance of the forest helps preserving a unique biotope and cultural environment. In consideration of replanting and regeneration, only limited annual quantities of timber are harvested, enough for a fancy floor at the Swedish Embassy in Pretoria, a prestigious distillery´s whisky barrels, or massif knife blocks and smooth drawers from Kvänum, things that will age with grace, much like the forest.
